自然や日常の視覚と個人の精神的体験を密接に捉えようとした近代美術から、人間と社会の分析や関係性を様々に捉える現代美術へ美術は変化して来ました。その歴史の狭間で抽象絵画はスピリチュアリティを拠り所にカンディンスキーや近年再評価が進むヒルマアフクリント等の先駆者によって20世紀初頭に開拓されました。
TARTAROS JAPANは、スピリチュアリティに基盤を置く抽象絵画の先駆者と同様に、自己の瞑想体験を元に絵画表現に取り組んで来ました。それ等は幻覚的イメージを抽象化した様な、現実と夢の狭間にある領域を探求しているようです。
個展では瞑想時に現れるビジョンを（観想=IDEA） として捉えた、新作抽象絵画シリーズで構成されます。
科学文明が置き去りにしたスピリチュアリティを、現代美術の最前線に再び提示する試みとなります。

石川県立工業高等学校工芸家卒 日本大学芸術学部彫刻科中退
CGデザイナー、フィギュア原型師、プロダクトデザイナーを経て40代より瞑想による神秘体験を契機に芸術活動に入る。
2013年、アートプロジェクト「TARTAROS JAPAN」の活動開始。絵画、彫刻、ミクストメディア、インスタレーション、コンセプチャルアートを制作。
2016年キュレーションワークを開始。
東京・金沢を中心に個展・グループ展多数。
TARTAROS JAPAN
TARTAROSはギリシャ神話の、地底神の名称です。世界中の神話に共通して現れる、生きた人間の行けない生命の死の側面、生命が誕生し、還る世界です。
JAPANはシルクロードの終着点、東洋文明の終りの場所です。
東西で文明は分離しても、地底では統合されたひとつの世界＝地球文明がTARTAROS (地底)で繋がっている象徴が創作の背景にある事を暗示しています。近代個人主義から解放された視点で美術の根源的な力を示すための日乃谷のシンボルネームです。

The art world has changed from modern art that tries to closely grasp nature, everyday vision, and the mental experience of individuals to contemporary art that variously grasps the analysis and relationships between humans and society.
Abstract paintings were cultivated in the early twentieth century by pioneers such as Kandinsky based on spirituality and Hirmafclint, who has recently been undergoing reevaluation.
TARTAROS JAPAN, like the pioneers of spiritually-based abstract paintings, has worked on painting expressions based on their meditative experiences.
They seem to be exploring areas between reality and dreams that abstract hallucinatory images.
In this solo exhibition, it consists of a series of new abstract paintings that take the vision that appears during meditation as (IDEA).
It is an attempt to re-present the spirituality left behind by the scientific civilization to the forefront of contemporary art.
TARTAROS JAPAN / Kei Hinotani
Born in Kanazawa in 1969, currently lives in Okinawa.
Graduated from Ishikawa Prefectural College of Technology, dropped out of Japan University, department of sculpture.
Throughout careers of CG designers, figure prototypes, and product designers, Hinotani began artistic activities with a mysterious experience of meditation from his 40s. In 2013, his own art project TARTAROS JAPAN was launched. Hinotani creates paintings, sculptures, mixed media, installation, and conceptual art.
Started curation work in 2016.
A large number of solo exhibitions and group exhibitions based on Kanazawa and Tokyo.
TARTAROS JAPAN
TARTAROS is the name of the Greek mythology, the subterranean deity.
This is a world in which life is born and returned, and is the aspect of life death that lives can't go to, which commonly appears in mythology around the world.
JAPAN is the end of the Silk Road and the end of the Oriental Civilization.
Even if civilization separates in the East and West, it implies that the background of the creation is a symbol in which one unified world-the earth civilization-is connected by a TARTAROS.
This is Hinotani's symbolic name to show the fundamental power of art from the viewpoint released from the modern personality.
