Three Months After the First Kaidan-ha Exhibition,

From Shibuya to Ueno —

In February 2026, Masaya Yoshioka began an intensive series of paintings depicting the staircase in his studio. As other artists became interested in this development, the 1st Kaidan-ha Exhibition was held in Shibuya in April of the same year.

(Artists in the 1st Kaidan-ha Exhibition: Masaya Yoshioka, Takuya Inoue, Naoki Sasayama, and Yohei Sugita)

Even after the first exhibition ended, each artist continued painting.

Continuation, divergence, shifts in direction, returns to origins, departures, concentration, self-effacement, and the planning of new exhibitions—the activities surrounding Kaidan-ha have continued to unfold in various ways.

For this second exhibition, the venue moves from Shibuya to Minnano Gallery in Ueno. The exhibition features works by Takuya Inoue, Yohei Sugita, and Masaya Yoshioka.

Kaidan-ha began by turning its attention to staircase—an everyday presence that has rarely been treated as a subject of painting. We invite you to encounter the current state of Kaidan-ha through the works presented in this exhibition.
