ある画像をモニター越しに視るとき、それはつまりピクセルの集合体を見ているのだということを (あるいはモニターそのものを見ているのだということを)、時として意識することがあります。
同様に絵画も、ある瞬間から、メディウムの存在が図像への認識よりも先立つことがあります。
光の存在は、この場合、そのような視覚をめぐる意識を抑えイメージへと集中させる働きがあるといえますが、光の存在もまた、普段意識されることはありません。ゆえに、私たちは普通、視る、視える、ということに対して疑いを持つことがありません。

香月恵介は、それら意識されないものの存在をコントロールすることで、視覚という感覚の根本的な曖昧さに対する認識を、視るものに促そうとしているのです。

When we look at an image through a monitor, we sometimes realize that we are looking at a mass of pixels (or you are looking at the monitor itself).
Similarly, in paintings, from a certain moment, the presence of the medium may precede the recognition of the iconography.
In this case, the existence of light has the function of suppressing the consciousness of such vision and concentrating it on the image, but the existence of light is also not usually conscious. Therefore, we usually have no doubt about seeing.

Through his series of artworks, Keisuke Katsuki attempts the viewer to recognize the fundamental ambiguity of the sense of vision by controlling the existence of those unconscious things.
